Two undergraduate students at Rutgers University – New Brunswick were recently diagnosed with serogroup B meningococcal disease. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) performed special tests on the specimens from the two cases; the tests showed that the typing genes tested were identical between the two organisms. While we cannot predict whether there will be additional cases of meningococcal disease on campus, having two cases occurring over a short time with genetically related organisms suggests that there is an outbreak associated with Rutgers University – New Brunswick.

Watchung Pediatrics is proud to announce its certification as a Level Three Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH). This distinctive PCMH honor is given to a select number of practices in the United States who meet the high standards required for a medical home including comprehensive, quality medical care, coordination of services and accessibility to our patients.

Patient Centered Medical Home NCQA PCMH Recognition is the most widely adopted model for transforming primary care practices into medical homes. Research confirms medical homes can lead to higher quality and lower costs, and can improve patients’ and providers’ experience of care.

Watchung Pediatrics is honored to be the medical home for our wonderful families. There are currently less than 90 pediatric offices with this recognition in New Jersey, and only a handful in the immediate surrounding areas of all 3 offices.
